WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT NDIS PLAN

July 30, 2021by ZEDCARE

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides supports and funding based on the individual requirements and personal goals of a person with a disability. The individual nature of each NDIS plan offers the opportunity for growth, development and support specifically catered to the needs of the person. These needs could include mobility, access to education and work, daily activities and transportation.

Your NDIS plan will be based on the existing supports you receive and outline how NDIS funding can help provide you with further supports and services. Your first NDIS plan review will usually fall about 12 months after the start date of your plan. If you are on a longer plan duration and circumstances have changed, you are able to request a review.

If you want to change your plan, your plan manager and NDIA contact can help explain how to request changes and how to start the process to enact these changes.

  • I have had a change in circumstances

If your personal circumstances have changed in a way that affects the supports or services you receive from the NDIS, you can request that your plan review date is brought forward. You can do so via a change of circumstances form on the NDIS website, or through your contacts.

  • I disagree with the decision of the funding in my plan

If you are unhappy with how the funding in your plan has been allocated, you are able to request an internal review of the plan decision. You can do this in writing, by talking to someone at an NDIA office, emailing enquiries@ndis.gov.au or calling 1800 800 110.

If you are unhappy with the internal review, you are able to apply for a review by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT), which is an external organisation outside of the NDIA. To get the AAT to review your plan, you must first go through an internal review process.

Under the Planning Operational Guideline, outlined by the NDIS, a participant can make changes to their goals and aspirations, but other changes must take place at scheduled reviews, or requested unscheduled plan reviews.

More information on plan changes can be found via the NDIS website. Also, if you need NDIS services throughout Sydney, NSW, feel free to call our experts at ZedCare Ability Services on 1300 933 013.
